Quick Start Guide
Jabber Login
Launch the Jabber Client from your device.
Log into the device using your CIT credentials: username@ucar.edu
Click the Continue tab.
Enter your username and password to access Phone services. This field should be your CIT credentials only.
Once you have updated your CIT credentials, click Sign In.
Update Voicemail Credentials
You may receive an error message notifying you that Voicemail Service credentials are invalid.
Click on the Update tab.
Voice Messages should be highlighted.
Under User Settings, update the appropriate fields with your CIT credentials.
Click the Apply tab.
Voicemail services should now be active.
Main Jabber Window
Call Settings
First time login requires you to update your device for calls. This will be saved automatically and will not be required for future logins.
Close the Accounts Preferences tabs and return to the main Jabber window.
Click on the Call Settings icon in the lower section of your Jabber client.
Set your Device for Calls to be Computer.
The icons at the bottom of the screen should turn green and phone services should now be active.
Please review the "Emergency Calls" notice in the About Jabber window of your client.
Change Settings
From the main Jabber window, click on the My Profile and Settings icon in the upper left corner.
Click on the Preferences tab. Navigate to the Audio/Video tab. Update your microphone and speakers.
Placing a Call
- You can dial any 4-digit UCAR extension directly.
- For local calls dial 7+AreaCode+number
- For long-distance calls dial 7+1+AreaCode+number
- Click the cancel button to bring up the key pad or dial your call directly.
Reviewing Call Details
Navigate through the All Calls menu for additional details.
UCAR Directories
Type user details in the search or call field to access UCAR directories. (Min of 3 characters)
Answering Calls
- Click Answer to answer the incoming call.
- Click Decline to send the call to voicemail.
Access Voicemail
From the main Jabber window, click on the voicemail icon to review voicemail messages.
