Overview
Listed below are several AI applications approved for use within UCAR and how to obtain licenses for them.
Troubleshooting and support for the usage of the applications is handled by the individual user, if you have such questions, please reach out to the 3rd party support.
Requests for applications not listed below may be reviewed on a case by case basis, but will likely be declined.
Please note that applications for Microsoft 365 Copilot are not being approved at this time.

Gemini
Gemini is Google's Large Multimodal (LLM) AI which can be used to generate text, images, audio, videos, and code.
Gemini is integrated into Google services such as Workspace, Drive, Maps, Flights, Google Search, etc. and can also be used across multiple platforms such as MacOS, Windows, Android, and as a web extension.
Of the AI apps, Gemini is the most supported within UCAR given our contracts to Google.
UCAR is not given a batch of licenses and instead must submit a service desk ticket for all requests related to AI Virtual Assistants. requests to Google for each individual, so if approved for a license it may not be ready immediately.
To submit a request for a license or for questions about the application, please submit a ticket or send an email to the helpdesk.

ChatGPT
ChatGPT is the AI chatbot developed by OpenAI, it is able to generate text, images, and code. The app is free to use, but they have a paid subscription called ChatGPT Pro as well which gives access to the most up to date models.
The desktop app is currently available on MacOS and Android. A desktop app does not currently exist for Windows, but is slated to come out November 2024.
To receive a license for ChatGPT Pro, please reach out to your LCPO.

GitHub Copilot
GitHub Copilot is an AI coding assistant developed by GitHub and OpenAI. The app works to provide assistance in writing code faster and more accurately.
The app is available as an extension in Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, Vim, Neovim, the JetBrains suite of IDEs, and Azure Data Studio.
To request a license, submit a ticket to the helpdesk and make sure to include a billing key and your GitHub ID.
