Enterprise IT provides a general use instance of confluence available at wiki.ucar.edu.  kb.ucar.edu is restricted to limited use cases.

UCAR users may login using UCAR SSO and Duo MFA.  Some spaces may be publicly visible, others available to logged in users, and yet others restricted to specific users.

Confluence Cloud

UCAR does not support or provision access to Confluence Cloud.   UCAR users are not currently authorized to deploy their own instances of Confluence Cloud tied to their ucar.edu account.

The ability to login to Confluence Cloud instances managed by other organizations requires an Atlassian ID, which is provisioned by Enterprise IT.  To request an Atlassian ID account, please submit a ticket via the NCAR/UCAR Service Desk.  This request will require supervisory approval.

wiki.ucar.edu FAQs

Space permissions  are delegated to the administrators of the specific space.  You should directly request access to one of the designated administrators on the desired space, and they can assign you the appropriate level of access.

If you don't know who is an administrator on a space, you can submit a ticket to https://help.ucar.edu and the space administrator(s) will be provided to you.  The Confluence Administrators will not assign space permissions except for unique situations that can't be handled by existing space administrators.

UCAR employees may request a new space via the wiki request form.

Users with UCAR accounts must login to wiki.ucar.edu to initially activate their account before they can be assigned permissions on individual spaces.  In the case where access is being setup prior to a UCAR user being on-boarded, please submit a ticket to https://help.ucar.edu and a Confluence Administrator can provide assistance.

At this time only users with a  ucar.edu account can login to wiki.ucar.edu.  External users can be provided a limited use ucar.edu account as a collaborator - please reach out to your LCPO sysadmins or submit a request via https://help.ucar.edu to request a user be provided with a collaborator account.
